JJ-Lurgi Engineering Delivers Largest Methyl Ester Distillation Plant in the Region

| |  JJ-Lurgi Engineering in Malaysia has successfully delivered the largest methyl ester distillation plant in the region to Wilmar Bioenergi Indonesia, a subsidiary of the Wilmar Group, in August this year.
Methyl ester, commonly known as biodiesel, is produced via transesterification process from neutral oil. Next to its use as biodiesel, methyl ester has a wide range of applications and can be converted to fatty alcohol for detergents or personal care products. It is also used for plasticisers, paint and ink solvents and lube oil, amongst others.
Located in Dumai, Indonesia, the distillation facility delivered by JJ-Lurgi purifies methyl ester through distillation processes. Its production capacity is 1,000 metric tonnes per day and it is, so far, JJ-Lurgi’s largest project.
JJ-Lurgi Engineering provided a total engineering solution from design, engineering, procurement to plant commissioning. The relationship between JJ-Lurgi Engineering and the Wilmar Group is fruitful; the joint venture has already installed five projects for the Wilmar Group over the past years and currently has two ongoing projects.
